Why Business Changes Matter: Reflections from My Local McDonald’s

Hello friends, I know some of you are wondering what’s up since my last post. Well, I am in good health after a week of taking the Pneumonia vaccine. I’m a bit busy on a project, so I will not be posting as much for a while. However, today I’m sharing a recent experience I hope that will enlighten and move you to action.

When care and appreciation are lacking, people learn by the results of their actions.

Recently, I stopped in at one of our local McDonald’s. I hadn’t eaten since morning, and it was now after two in the afternoon.

I wanted to have a seat to eat before heading home, but was unable to as all the available stools were taken due to the renovation that now sees accommodation limited.

I put myself in the owner’s position in view of past years running the business, and must understand the importance of the changes. As advantages were taken by some to overstay their seating accommodation, they carried on with other business and left the joint messy.

So, as much as the renovation is an inconvenience to some who prefer to sit in or outdoors to enjoy their meal, by putting myself in each one’s place, I was able to appreciate and understand management’s changes.

Owners run businesses to make a profit.

A worker’s pay at McDonald’s is not much. When employees must take time to clean up on top of their regular duties, at the end of the day, one is being overworked and underpaid.

Each meal sees a percentage deducted for rent, employee’s daily wage, insurance, creditors’ payment, government fees, groceries and the owner’s personal allowance. At the end of the month, if an owner can’t see a profit, what is the use of running a business?

The situation moved me to think that changes at the time seem hushed or lack care, when we sit to ponder over or meditate upon, we can then see that changes initiated by a few who lacked care or appreciation work out to be beneficial for all involved. Without time to consider the reason for changes, unwelcome attitudes from some are the beginning of fights among us. Fights that will continue to exist because some of us just want to have our own way satisfied without thinking of others.

Every idea requires another to make it progress, and everything we do in life involves others; therefore, care must be considered so that the end result benefits everyone.

It really hurts when you are the one responsible who must suffer the consequences of those who are irresponsible or who take advantage of situations. For instance, the lack of privacy today is due to those who took advantage by illegally entering people’s homes. Illegal access to people’s devices is turning their lives upside down. Some are unaware and stressed out due to the struggles in their lives. Such actions that have seen cameras all over the place, and our data being monitored. Making it difficult to have privacy. And what is more troubling is that those skillful in technology are taking advantage of those less skilled by tampering with and stealing their work.

Is there a solution?

Keep records of everything you do online. A hard copy, if you can, or store on external drives. Now and then, check with your institutions to be sure your information is correct.

I have stories of incidents. Like for instance, this post was written and checked with my Microsoft paid subscription, spelling and grammar, with the results that give a 100% as being correct; yet when I copy and paste, there are still punctuation and word usage errors.

I live in a government-owned building, and for years I had changed my phone number. Communication with the office is done on many occasions, and I only found out about two years ago that my records had my old number without the change to the new number.

Three times in the past year and a half, I had updated my records with my bank, which I’ve dealt with for years. And had to do so again a few days ago. I would not have known had I wanted a service done. The excuse given by the manager I had to clarify, that it is not always a human error. It is those who have access that make changes.

When such things happen, it could be concluded that the person doesn’t know their address, email or phone number. The impression the individual leaves is not good. And personally, what’s left is the mental fatigue and questionable doubt of one’s own mental state of remembrance. Eventually, if not mentally strong, one falls victim to a mental breakdown or early development of Dementia.

Such wicked actions are of people who are not mentally grown, and like children, they continue a game that one day turned on them, only then will they understand if they live to fully experience, to tell.

Thank you for reading. Do take care until my next post.
